Safely Clean Your Trex or Composite Decking
Composite decking is quickly becoming a popular replacement for wood decks. It does not warp, rot, or splinter. Nor does it need to be painted or stained. It is quickly reducing the cost of maintenance.
However, mold and mildew like to grow on composite decking. So you need to clean it.
But did you know that there are is a wrong way to care for your composite decking?
You do NOT want to pressure wash your Trex or other composite decking material.
Power washing Trex or other composite decking material will remove the smooth factory finish. Pressure washing your composite decking will leave your deck feeling rough and gritty.
So to get your composite decking clean and mildew free, without destroying it, it is as simple as spraying on a mold and mildew removing solution.
After agitating the mold and mildew remover with an acid brush, the solution is rinsed off with a garden hose or by using the pressure washing rinse (black) tip. Sometimes multiple applications of the mold and mildew remover are needed.
I’ve found this to be an effective way to keep your composite decking looking clean and attractive all year long.
